We asked several of the groups that joined us for the Oak Park Second Saturday Cleanup a few questions. Here are their responses:
Question 1: Oak Park is a small community within a large city and the areas we clean every 2nd Saturday are even smaller. How can a small neighborhood cleanup make an impact on a large city like Sacramento?
Group 1: When we bring other communities together to change one community, it has the ability to expand into other communities in the area.
Group 2: You cannot clean all of Sacramento at once, but you can clean it one at a time.
Group 3: Make the clean ups a competition between the neighborhoods. This would help involve more communities and put a fun spin on it.
Group 4: When people start to care about Oak Park, and then start cleaning it, they will start to see the light of Oak Park shinning again.
Group 5: By setting the example in Oak Park other communities will mirror it.
Group 6: These clean up will have a ripple affect that will affect all of the communities in Sacramento.
Group 7: Show outside communities that people from other communities care about Oak Park, which will show them it is ok to care about Oak Park also.
Group 10: Groups coming together to make a change is much more profound than one group trying to make a change by themselves.
Question 2: In what ways can 2nd Saturday cleanups expand to make an impact on other commu
Group 3: Introduce Second Saturday to more schools.
Group 5: These clean ups will become a chain reaction.
Group 9: Oak Park is the heart of Sacramento, so by helping the heart we will be helping the whole of Sacramento change for the better.
